NATIONAL BOARD FOR TECHNICAL EDUCATION LAUDS GOVERNOR DOUYE DIRI
The Director of Monotechnics, Mallam Samaila Tanko has lauded Governor Douye Diri and the Prosperity Government for the level of intervention giving to the International Institute of Tourism and Hospitality, Yenagoa in order to be able to train technical manpower for the industry in Nigeria
Mallam Tanko who was the team leader of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) Resource Visitation/Accreditation team to the Institute of Tourism stated this during the exit briefing on Tuesday 26th of September, 2023 at the Institute auditorium.
The National Board for Technical Education made the commendation in the course of verification and accreditation of National Diploma programmes undertaken by the different team leaders for each of the programmes however urged the management to endeavour to carry out recruitment of qualified staff, critically explore the local content of Bayelsa State to develop a course that is relevant and convenient to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the people of the area.
Mallam Tanko who also represented the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Prof. Idris Muhammad Bugaje thanked the Governor for the support, stating that the primary aim of NBTE is to partner with government agencies to ensure quality assurance in line with NBTE guidelines.
Earlier, the Honourable Commissioner of Culture and Tourism, Dr Iti Orugbani who represented His Excellency Governor Douye Diri welcomed the delegation and assured them of the hospitality of the government and people of Bayelsa State.
Responding, the Rector of the Institute, Prof. Apuega Arikawei promised to look into all the observations identified by the team noting that management will develop a matrix to improve on facilities and student performance.
Prof. Arikawei thanked the team for acknowledging the bold steps and display of administrative acumen as well as adherence of students’ entry requirements, promising to maintain the good student interaction that showed much has been impacted which should be properly documented.
Highpoint of the exit briefing was cultural displays by students, presentation of plaque to the Executive Secretary for his support to institutional and skills development and facility visit to Prof. Steve Azaiki Library along Imgbi Road, Yenagoa.
